John Hill Joined the RAF in 1943, dreaming of being a pilot. But his medical revealed a slight colour-blindness, and so he never made it to aircrew. As a Flight Mechanic he joined the newly formed Transport Command with postings in the UK, Iraq and Egypt. John was interviewed by volunteers at the RAFA Wings Centre in Preston.
