Peter Taylor had his heart set enjoining the RAF after seeing an air circus with his sister and her boyfriend. He became an apprentice at 14 and eventually joined in 1939 at the start of World War 2, starting as a trainee wireless operator gunner. After a night out, Peter found himself in the service of the South African Air Force where he saw out his service as a Signals Officer.
