To be honest, I can't remember the precise emotions.
But I suppose a mixture of relief, elation,
and I suppose a bit of trepidation as well.
Thinking about success or otherwise of our mission.
So yeah, a whole mixture of emotions I think
would be the real cocktail.
I can't quite remember what it felt like to be released.
Squadron Leader Bob Ankerson was forced to eject from his Tornado GR 1 when on a mission over Basra during Operation GRANBY in January 1991. Bob was one of seven RAF servicemen to be captured and held as a prisoner of war in Baghdad. They were finally released in March, days after the end of the war.
