of long hair and flared trousers
to going into regimentation
of being called all names under the sun
and, at the time, because I was one of the oldest
in the intake I was given the nickname
of Captain Mainwaring.
So, but it was fun
and doing all the bits
of PT
every other day and learning to polish shoes
and go through inspections that,
if things didn't match up to scratch,
more often than not all your kit would be
thrown out the window, so you'd then have to start again.
Six weeks after we'd endured all the training,
we were then passed out from there
and let loose on the big, wide, world
of the RAF.
