I served in the Berlin Brigade
when there was still a West Berlin and a wall
and stuff like that, so you could see Germans,
you know, well, that was the late '70s, early '80s,
they'd come up to you and they'd thank you
for what we did to save their country,
to save democracy, and save their families in those years
immediately following World War II
as well as all the years since then,
but it's, you know, it kinda makes you feel good
that maybe you're doing something
for a real reason and a purpose.
