I and my family
and have done for many years.
and, I often used to promise,
some of the people that we got to
to get a chinook, to the Isles of Scily,
And, when it came to my final trip
I can remember, the chief of staff
we'll get you an aircraft and, you know,
try and generate some sort of task that,
that's the benefit
So I floated the idea to
and so I organized it
and the islanders,
I had an interesting phone call
we're quite likely to fly to St Mary’s
because about 200 children on that island
I said I never went on holiday
I always go to St Agnes, and he said yeah, but there's only six children there.
I said, well, don't
Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. So actually,
we initially flew down
to Cornwall, night stopped,
at Culdrose,
and then the following day, in November.
So we but we didn't have the weather
Of course it came good on the day.
we flew out to the island,
I think, the entire police force
All three of them.
all of the children from the school,
six of them,
that i knew, and
we showed them around.
The aircraft and we had a fantastic time.
and we were given pasties and ice cream,
Made it so much sweeter.
And, then we flew back
into RAF Odiham.
And, that was my last flight.
And. You can see I get.
Quite emotional about it.
it was,
a fantastic day
doing what I wanted
with with an aircraft that I loved
and doing a job that.
I absolutely loved.
And my wife
came to meet me on the pan, and there was
a large number of people out there,
to see us, and and, it was just amazing.
so, yeah,
I walked away from the Chinook,
but I held that quite dear.
in my heart.
