Lynn Martin came to the RAF Museum, Hendon to see the War Brides exhibition featuring her mother, Violet Sharples. Violet and her identical twin, Betty, served in the Royal Air Force (RAF). Leading Airwoman, Violet, plotted the dreaded V-1 Flying Bombs (“buzz bombs”) detected by early Radar entering British airspace. The quieter of the pair, she was known to replace Betty during dormitory bed check after curfew. The twins were separated when Violet left for Canada in 1946 as a war bride.
