I deployed as a detention handler.
So I volunteered to do it, I wanted to almost do my bit,
rather than you know,
I do my day job at a desk all year.
If I'm gonna go to Afghanistan,
then I'm gonna go to Afghanistan and do something different.
So I put myself through the trainin' selection for that,
and then, and deployed to Afghanistan.
In daily contact with, people that had been picked up
as terrorists, and lookin' after them, humanely,
and in line with Geneva Convention rules et cetera.
You know at the end of the day, they are humans.
They need care.
So it was a very torn role,
but very fulfillin'.
When I came home I genuinely felt like,
I've been to Afghanistan
and I've done my bit.
