Leslie Goldwyn was born in 1923 in Fulham. He joined the RAF at the age of 18, where his natural ability as a mathematician was noticed and he was trained as a navigator. He served on pathfinder flights, one of the most dangerous roles during the war. Of the 50 men who trained with him, only 3 survived the war.
