It come under very much disrepair.
It had been used as a lookout site by the Taliban
and had fallen into an awful state of repair.
The local population wanted the mosque to be
a sacred site once again, but didn't have the labor force
or money to piece that together.
So along with the village elders,
we put a local workforce together,
and then we produced a fantastic building
which I was led to believe it was guarded jealously
by the local population as somewhere of pride
and certainly of significance for worship.
