Shot down over France, escape to England

Alfred Manstoff was a Flight Engineer on a Halifax Bomber which was shot down over France. Alfred was captured by the Germans and then escaped, hidden by the Marquis (French Resistance) he ultimately escaped back to England and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Medal
