Three and a half years of Hell
John Fisher was born in Hackney, London in 1916. In 1940 he volunteered for the RAF and trained as a Gunner and Wireless Operator. He served in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East, but was caught up in the Japanese invasion of Java, and spent the rest of the war suffering the horrors of the POW camps.
